Beth and Erica

With this awesome Prima paper purchased from Vivian, I made this lay out #3 for Beth.

I love the bling, the huge flowers, the fruits and animals. Very whimsical. She would have loved this.

For the clouds, I used fine pumice stone and the blue clouds are actually painted on using twinkling waters.

I am now stuck doing a couple more lay outs for Beth. In a rut. I love doing these pages for her kasi it challenges me to look for techniques I can use.

this week end's LO's

This is a page for Beth. Beth would be tickled pink to know that this paper came from Iris. She is such a fan. Actually, we all are. But Beth gushes more. hahaha.

I am so sad lang na she will never know the outpouring of love and support her passing has stirred.

This page was started out with gesso and then painted over with white paint. Next a border of crackle paint. Smoothed over with glossy accents. And lastly, decked out in pink and blue stickles.

I just cut up a bunch of paper accents and ribbon. Used some jute. Misted the page with Yellow Maya Mist.

I love the effect of gray smooch on the flowers. It darkened the shadows somewhat giving it some depth.

Below is a bonus lay out from the class we took yesterday. Sometimes, we are in such a rush to finish the project, we fail to take time to savour the techniques. hmm, maybe we need to make a week end out of scrapping.?

Beth's Book of Treasures

I first met Beth at Scrapfest 2007, I think. It's a while back. I only got addicted to Scrapbooking last year. Every time, I would bump into her at an event. She always a ready greeting for me.

For lack of a better description, we only truly talked at the first ScrapJam in Alabang.

Gosh, travelling all the way to Alabang just for love of the craft. It was in this Scrapjam, I sat beside Imee, and Sharon.
At the Scrapjam in Clark, I got to reconnect with Imee, Jeanie, Beth, and met some new ones. Betchay and Mommy Rosie. After last year's scrapjam, I was invited to join their scrapping group.

Beth was part of the group. She always sat beside Jeanie and even if she was friendly, she didn't say much.

I don't know how it happened. But next thing you know, we became shopping buddies. Seatmates. Friends.

Gosh, I would remember the three of us: You, me and Sharon taking three cars in the middle of a work day. Going from Vivian's store to Helen's store via Sharon's shortcut. Treating the streets of San Juan like Le Mans. Or having lunch at the steak store by the gas station.

Beth is the type of person who would text you back, and say that she wanted to go back to Helen's to get some Santa Stamps. Even if we just went this morning.

Or how, Beth is just a text away when you have a great shopping deal. I'll just hear from her na she went to the store already. She is so sipag, and quite fast.
At our meetings, she would express excitement at a cute embelishment. Eager to try out the next technique.

We have been taking classes with Iris for the past couple of weeks. She would work quietly, and she would just amaze you with how well she would execute the project.

To know Beth is to know that she is a passionate person. She loves her daughter. She loves her family. She loves Scrapbooking. Beth simply loves.

Beth never utters a bad thing about another person. She is good that way. And if you have a bad thing to say, she will just listen quietly and just shrug it off.
I regret that I didn't get to know you better. I never got to know your dreams in life.
As you view each page of Beth's book of treasures. You will see the people important in her life. You will see the amount of work she lovingly put into each page. Each page is telling of who she is. A talented person who deeply loves.
I will miss you my friend. I will miss your company. Your laughter. Your zest for life.
We lay to rest our dream of scrapping in Thunderbirds resort at Poro Point. While the men are off to play golf.

A Saturday Lay out

Since this is the first time, I am doing this. I do not know the protocol yet about using another person's lay out and posting it online. So I want to be sure and cover my bases first.

Meeting Iris, and learning from her has opened up a new style of scrapbooking for me. I used to shun everything romantic, antique in lay outs. And because of her, I notice, that this style is growing on me.

This lay out is called: Butterflies at the wedding

Journalling: We released a hundred butterflies at the wedding. In my family, we believe that a butterfly is a loved one visiting from Beyond. And so by having butterflies at the wedding, it is paying respect to our dearly departed. They may have left us, but we keep them close in our hearts.

I used some DCWV papers I have around. The flowers and the butterflies are from Divi, as well as the Prima Bling. The butterflies are from the Mariposa line. Divi flowers muna tayo, mahal pa si Prima.

The longest lay out ever

I think this by far is the longest time I've spent on an lay out by Iris. Umm, maybe because I slept a bit, and started finishing this when I woke up.

I tried the Iris method of letting the lace steep in some water and acrylic paint. It came out very faint and I didn't like how the lace became green. So I just dry brushed over the lace with some yellow paint. Much better.

I don't have stickles. Instead I used my Prang Metallic Paints, and used Ranger Crackle over the letters.

And I couldn't find twine, and so I used scrapping floss I got from Lasting Impression instead.

It was fun playing along. Sana we always have classes like these which you can do at your own pace. For me, following is always easier.

Valentines, when flower shops around Manila jack up their prices, you have an alternative: make your own. But I seriously doubt that the Bunny will crack out the scissors and give these a go. This is more of my thing to do.

It's Valentines. Well, soon to be. And usually LSS stores give out awesome discounts on that day. So wait for it.

I also signed up online for weekly updates sa Scrapbook Trends. Ay naku, I don't know how I got to the site in the first place. Anyway, you can get their online book for around 250 pesos. Which is not a bad deal considering we get to buy those here for around 500 kung luma and 700 pesos if the issue is current.

They also let you look at the Dec 2009 issue for free, as well as another issue of your choice. Not bad, if you just want to scraplift. This morning, I was thinking of signing up for those follow at your pace classes for $30. But hey, you learn more if you actually do it. So the online books are starting to really look good to me now.

I am starting to store stash up now for the trip to Bellaroca. Scrap stuff, books (I have 20 waiting to be read: joy), and loading up on movies as well. Don't laugh. Kimmy Dora, my bunny was like, whatthe? Well, let's see.
