Quick lay outs

 I have not been able to scrap so much this year!  been busy with life,  my online scrapbook store,  and work.  The first one is a picture inside Taipei 101.

Planner 2015

Skipping this year's tradition of gulping down 18 Starbucks drinks to get a planner!  My jeans won't have any more space for Christmas calories if I start gulping down frappuccinos.

My alternative was to get a Moleskin planner,  but hey  the cheapskate in me,just bought a notebook from National Bookstore.  I added washi tape,  and did some stamping.

I was just so lucky to purchase a date stamp when I did.

I was also able to purchase a notebook cover from H&M  with a beautiful texture.  Very happy with next year's planner.

You don't have to purchase a fancy planner.  Just make your own!

Taipei Travel Album

Last year was a year of upheaval in my life.  We didn't travel at all,  so I didn't have anything to scrapbook.  Well this year, the opposite is true.    I  have so many pictures and didn't have time to put them in lay outs.  A quick fix is making mini albums.

  I started out with using an echo park getaway travel papers, and some chip board  used a zutter bind it all and I'm good to go!

I also mixed in some white water colour paper and some black card stock to make the album more fun!

Beside our hotel was a veritable treasure trove of a store!  I was able to purchase scrapbook stickers of Taiwan,  washi tape and anything I can beautify my album with.  

I am so in love with uniball signo white pens.  The pen pops up in black paper, so I can journal to my heart's content.

  I have also made a mini album for Bali,  and I have yet to work on my Dubai one.  And so now,  if I want to revisit where we went,  I get a mini album complete with maps of where we went,  what souvenirs we bought  and where we had fun!

  A friend is a person close to your heart.  I have never met her in person,  but I have always conversed with her in Facebook.    She's been a friend for the past couple of years.  And I am proud to have her as a friend.
  So what do you give a person who has everything?  Well,  I made her a lay out since she loves scrapbooking so much.

When work becomes play

Rushed Romantics

My friend Lola Kate and I are serious paper addicts.  Never met a paper we did not like.

And so we split a Graphic 45 Tea Roses paper set,  while I was in the store,  I was cut cutting roses and birds.  

I misted and put textured paste on some white backgrounds from a previous class.

I do things in batches.  Make sure that you decorate backgrounds,  pile on embellishments, title and journal.

  I purchased the ribbons on sale at Gourdo's.  The AC thickers are from Qoolayful.  Brand spanking new!

In between finishing these lay outs,  we even had time to get stuck in traffic and go crazy scrap shopping.  

Scrapping anew

I used to breeze through making lay outs.  And then nothing.

Life got busy.

I had fun with my online store in FB selling scrap stuff.

I was kinder to myself,  taking a rest.

And so it is with an Iris class that has me scrapping again.

I am amazed how with a bit of mists,  some glass bead gel, gel medium and gesso,  she can make gorgeous lay outs.

Round 2 Fun in White!

  Heading into Round 2 of the Supreme Scrap Tournament.  First up,  I've never done a single monochromatic lay out in my life.  I am thankful  that this tournament really challenges us to work outside our comfort zone.
  I only had 2 black and white photos.  So my choices were limited.  And  I was only choosing between white and kraft for my monochromatic colors.
  It took me three hours to make this double lay out.  Apparently it takes a lot of work and time to do this.
  I ended up using like 5 sheets of white cardstocks for this lay out.  I punched 2 sheets of paper  using different border punchers.  The more intricate the punch,  the better.    I wanted to recreate the beautiful lace work of the bridal gown.  With the strips of paper border strips,  I glued them down on the white cardstocks.  I was measuring with ruler,  sometimes I do get OC.
   Next up,  I piled on trims and die cuts.  Those die cuts were cut in white foam,  but they had a grey tinge on them.  So I had to paint over them with gesso.
    I finally get to use my Maya Road White sequins which I have been hoarding for the longest time!
  I added resins from Prima and white paper flowers.
  Lastly,  the title I DO,  I used white thickers from American Crafts.
  Who knew I had so many white embellishments in the house?
  Will be making more monochromatic lay outs in the future?  Probably not.  It was a arduous process.  And monochromatic is never my first choice.  I like to live my life in full color!
 

1000 steps from home

Along with some friends, I have joined an international competition  producing lay outs.  So the next couple of weeks should be fun.  

  Starting with two pieces of watercolor paper,  paint with yellow and orange water color the upper part of the paper, using bold brush strokes.  Next up,  using a combination of gel medium, glass bead gel and rust colored paint,  mix well and apply to paper over a brick mask.  Using a loaded paint brush,  flick on water color paper using water and watercolors.

  Stamp on paper.

  Pile on die cuts from Webster's papers,  layer them on.  Trim pictures if necessary.  Use green paper to provide base for all the pictures.  Glue on wooden chipboard embellishments.  I have also added some acrylic paint to the chipboard tree and birds.  Add on  prima Flowers.  I have also added some twine on a tag.  Write Journalling on tag: " I live in a paradise called the Philippines. We have wide and open roads, shady trees.  Flowering plants all year through.  Even our lamp posts are pretty.  This is paradise within 1000 steps from home."   Hide tag beneath topmost left picture.  

In three's

A friend and I have been discussing that our lay output this year has been in the low 60's.  I used to top the 200 list the previous years.  So what happened?

I've been travelling less.  Less travels, Less pictures to scrap about.

Papers are all starting to look the same.

So in the spirit of creating more,  I've started scrapping in three's again.

Every Wednesday,  I make 3 lay outs.  

Let's start with that.

Joy

  A big smile out, now live at the Filipino Scrapbookers site.   Challenge #32.
  I purchased a rim of the blue paper which I used as a base.  I am having a lot of fun using that paper.  Pretty to boot.
  I used some K & Co embellishments,  which you can buy in a pack.  I love the nature theme.  Very classic.
  I happily finished my lay out requirements and cards way ahead of schedule.  Up to March of next year, in fact.  So now I have no cloud of pending work hanging over my head.  I can freestyle lay outs. yay!

Rainy Days

Wow.  That was some rain.  It rained cats, dogs and the entire zoo!

I've always delegated rainy weather as perfect scrap weather.

I made a couple of cards in an afternoon.

I made one after the other.

Afterwards, I needed chocolate!

Challenge #27 August

This is my take on the August sketch up at the Filipino Scrapbooker's Blog.  

I love it.  This is one of my better works.

                           I colored the stamped Magnolia image with distress inks and a watercolor brush.  I found that if you look for a small enough doily,  you can use this to frame Tilda.  And no need to purchase every spellbinder die out there.
  I used some small Bangkok paper flowers and a resin flower from All About Scrapbooking.

Making More

Totally loving the Martha Stewart Circle Punch.  I am still waiting to purchase mine!  So I just borrowed a friend's and punched one.  Next up, I used script stamp on top and distressed it Peacock Blue.  For the stitching on top,  that is a handy stitch stamp.  I still have yet to use my stitching tool.  Argh.  I keep buying tools I hardly use.

Going through my stash,  I end up with new discoveries all the time.  I found out that I hoarded up on twinkling waters.  So here I colored all the corners with twinkling water creating a colorful border.  I am also using more of my self made mists.  Time to get the mists out of storage and finish those first.

Early Start

I woke up this morning with a desire to make lay outs.  And I managed to make three before heading out to work.  Still working with the Kaisercraft die cuts, and   hand cut some doilies.

I didn't have blue pan pastel.  So I used watercolors to paint over the textured paste.

And for my third lay out,  I just used what was available.

I am so happy to finish my DT assignments for this year.  So now,  I am looking forward to scrapping more and posting more often.

Baby Love

    Life got busy,  and mojo left me behind.  I am currently finishing up projects for the Filipino Scrapbookers group.  Three more cards, and I am done for the assignments for the year.  Hooray!
  Just because I don't post here,  doesn't mean I am not creating stuff.
    I bought like a packet of these papers,  which I totally love since I don't have to punch punch around the page anymore.  The die cuts are from 1 page of Graphic 45 papers.  So nice!  It goes well with my Mamita and Baby Hans picture.    I also used a Prima Cherubim resin, Webster's papers for the flowers,   and Prima flowers.
   Totally loving this oh so cute Baby lay out.

Thanks for still sticking around even if I still do not update as  much.

I bought an extra Kaisercraft embellishment kit,  and I am working with that.  I mix it up with new Webster's papers.  I add butterflies from a Melissa Frances embellishment box and some resins.

I used some modeling/texture paste from my friend Karen Ngo.  I swear,  you don't need all the other mediums.  All you need is this one.  And maybe some gesso.

  Crafting doesn't have to be expensive.  But when you source your products creatively,  it becomes like an addicting game.

A Saturday Class with Iris

Awesome mask technique.  Another way of using masks.  Get a mask and then paint alternating colors over it.

Used  mist and flicked it over the page.Used Martha Stewart circle punch for the doily.

Beautiful die cuts made from foam and used paint dabbers to add vibrant color.

Loved using pumice gel medium over the masks, and added color using pan pastel.  We used embossing ink to make the colors stick.

I made two extra lay outs so I can squeeze more out of the kit,  trying to bring the cost down.
